What Is Janzu?

Derived from the Chinese term for “peaceful river”, Janzu Aqua Massage can be described as meditation in motion, an aquatic dance, a therapeutic art. Janzu is a transformative massage expereince done in water and by the water. It combines the healing power of water with gentle movements to promote deep relaxation.

What Are The Benefits?

Going through this unique journey in the water:

What Happens In A Session?

While you float effortlessly on the water, I gently guide and move your body both above and below the surface. These fluid, rhythmic motions, enhanced by the natural push of the water, encourage deep muscle relaxation and natural body stretching.

As a highly somatic journey, the mind often finds a moment to pause, inviting individuals to fully immerse themselves in the present moment, experiencing life through sensations.

My Story

My introduction to aquatic bodywork was during an online Somatic Movement Summit where I was captivated by the transformative quality of the showcased SomAqua session. Feeling intrigued, I sought to learn more, but I couldn’t find any practitioner or training near me.

A year later, while working remotely in Mexico, I was thrilled to discover a Janzu aquatic bodywork school in the area. I booked a session and then another. The experience was unlike any other; it was pure joy in the water! Recognizing the transformative potential of this practice, I decided to participate in an upcoming training and that was the beginning of my journey as a Janzu practitioner!

Since then, I've dedicated myself to mastering Janzu, undertaking additional training with different masters in Mexico. Alongside my practice, I've delved into somatic coaching, deepening my understanding of the mind-body connection.

Today, I'm deeply grateful for the joy Janzu has brought into my life. It's my pleasure to share this unique practice with others, guiding them in their journey in the water.

My Guiding Principles

In my journey, I've learnt that healing and growth unfold in spaces where we are fully received without judgment. In such environments, the seeds of growth can emerge from within us. This understanding guides all aspects of my practice – from Janzu, to somatic coaching, to sound work. Central to my approach is a deep trust in the body's wisdom. During each Janzu session, I engage in a dialogue with the body, honoring its responses, including tension, and adapt my pace and movements to respond to the unique needs of the moment.

My Approach

In my practice of Janzu, I embrace the role of an invisible water channel. By closely attuning to the client’s breath and body, I navigate their journey through the water with care. This deep listening cultivates a safe space where the client can surrender and fully connect with the water, experiencing its myriad benefits. This journey is the client’s passage through the water, and my aim is to remain as invisible as possible, emerging into visibility only when it serves the client’s needs.

Who Can Benefit From Janzu?

Janzu is a very safe practice for most people. There is no requirement to know how to swim. However, there are some conditions that you would need to check with your family physician first to verify if participation in Janzu is suitable for you.
