What Is Somatic Coaching?

Somatic coaching is a unique form of coaching that embraces the wholeness of an individual. In somatic coaching, the mind and body are not viewed as isolated entities but rather interconnected parts of a whole known as the soma. We work with the body and through the body to move towards a desired self and life.

How I Can Support You

  • Realizing a Vision: you have beautiful ideas you’d like to bring to life, and somehow it is not happening as you wish. There is a sense of being stuck. Or there is a sense of needing support along the way to your vision.

  • Purpose and Meaning: life is going on fast and even though things are going well in your life, there is a sense of being lost a bit, or not fully satisfied. It’s hard to know where you are going. You wish you could slow down to gain clarity about what you care about most and align with your values.

  • Shifting Old Patterns: there is a desire for changing an aspect of your life or how you show up in the world (like being more confident, happy, peaceful, etc.), but it hasn’t been easy to make it happen.

  • Decision Making: there is a decision waiting to be made but it’s hard to make the call, there is a sense of being torn between different pulls.

  • Transitions: you are going through a major life transition (career, location, empty nest, divorce, breakup, recently diagnosed, loss) and you need new ways to support you move through this phase of life.

  • Boundary Work: saying no hasn’t been easy. Or sometimes you say yes to something and later you wonder if your true wish was to say no.

  • Conflict: there is an internal conflict or a conflict with someone else that has been draining your energy and you wish you could change that.

  • Stress: life stresses are accumulating and you’d like to bring in more calmness and peace.

  • Joy: there is a desire for more excitement and joy in the day to day life.

  • Grief: you are going through a period of grief and you’d like to cultivate skills to support you move through this challenging time.

My Guiding Principles

I see myself more as a facilitator who facilitates the process of self-discovery for my clients. In my practice, I am guided by a set of principles that form the foundation of my work.

  • I believe that transformation and growth unfold in spaces where we are received as who we are without judgment. In such spaces, our challenges are viewed as valuable information, an opportunity for exploration and growth. It is within these environments that our potential new self can emerge.

  • In my practice, I trust in the inner wisdom of my clients. I support them in discovering that inner knowing.

  • I also believe that central to our transformation is the profound act of embracing all parts of ourselves. Each part carries its own wisdom, waiting to be acknowledged and integrated into our wholeness.

My Approach

As a coach, I support my clients in their journey of self-discovery by providing a safe, non-judgemental space that facilitates accessing the wisdom within. I drop inquiries that may lead to insight and further learning about the self. I use CBT techniques as well as Inner Relationship Focusing technique, movement, sounding and other forms of expression to support the journey inward. Key to my practice is active listening, a deep attunement to words and beyond words, which helps me to respond to the needs of the moment and what is emergent. Together we witness what emerges, and through practices, I provide support in integration of what has been unfolded.

Client Testimonials

  • Jaleh is a caring practitioner. Her ability to stay present in the process is comforting. Skillfully, she has kept our sessions in track while respecting my needs as a client. I felt seen, listened to and cared for every time.

  • Zhaleh is gifted and skillful at tracking and being present. Zhaleh holds a container gently with deep attunement and care. I have appreciated Zhaleh's capacity to allow for what's present to be seen and shift - seemingly without intervention - but always asking a pertinent question or making a connection otherwise unnoticed. It's light but powerful touch.

    Angela

  • Zhaleh is very thoughtful. She's very aware of where I'm at in the process and bringing things to my awareness that I may not have noticed. But she's still giving me my space to process. She just points out things to notice. There is no pressure. I love that the process is all about self-awareness. I'm amazed at how later in the week, I'm able to further process on my own, because she's not trying to "fix" the problem. Just making the *body* aware, then makes the body do the work.
